Contactless and mobile payment at the EHI congress 2010

From 4 to 5 May 2010, REA Card will be represented at the EHI congress in Cologne. This annual event on the topic of »Payment and customer loyalty by card« is the most important place to meet for retailers, manufacturers and service providers of the card sector in Germany.

As one of the most important industry topics of 2010, the introduction of contactless payment on this year’s EHI congress will provoke discussion and debate. REA Card will also contribute to the topic, at their own stand and as part of the programme.

During a panel discussion on »New Technologies«, REA Card general manager David Klemm together with Dr. Ralf Cordes of H&P Gesellschaft für Unternehmensberatung and Peter Ehmke, general manager in Germany of MasterCard Europe will discuss the future of contactless payment. Under the title of »Contactless & Mobile Payment«, they will provide insights into the way payment transfer data can be read-out during contactless payment transactions. They will also introduce innovative payment methods such as mobile payment and payment by mobile phone.

REA Card is planning to complete the introduction of contactless payment this year. Now that the technological requirements for contactless payment at REA Card payment-terminal have been put into place, the technology is in the release phase. REA Card expects to be able to offer its customers the contactless payment option from autumn 2010.
