REA Card will become a member of the Umweltallianz Hessen [Environmental Alliance of Hesse]

Owing to special contributions to environmental protection, REA Card GmbH became a new member of the Umweltallianz Hessen of the Hessischen Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz [Hessian Ministry of Environmental Affairs, Energy, Agriculture and Consumer Protection] in June of this year.

 

The Umweltallianz Hessen is an alliance for sustainable locational policy which was formed in 2000 in cooperation between the Hessian State Government and the Hessian business community in order to promote corporate responsibility for the environment and natural resources in the region of Hesse. The central focus of the cooperation is upon voluntary contributions to environmental protection upon the part of companies as well as acknowledgment of self-responsibility and commitment upon the part of companies that are located in Hesse.

Above all, the introduction of the EcoStep integrated management system was of critical importance for the decision of the ministry to accept REA Card as a member of the Umweltallianz. EcoStep is an integrated management system for small- and medium-sized companies that optimises the daily operational processes, which promotes higher quality, environmental-friendliness and work safety. The goals of EcoStep are realised through, among other things, a minimisation of the consumption of natural resources, the lowering of CO2 and dust emissions as well as an improvement in the working conditions of employees.

The ecological concept has also successively been more deeply anchored in REA Card’s corporate culture as well. Small steps such as, for example, separating out rubbish or reducing paper usage have long been second nature for RED Card employees. During the past year, REA Card switched over to an ecological power supply system, 100 percent of which is obtained from regenerative energy sources. Printed materials are still created only on FSC paper that was produced based upon sustainable forestry. All these measures are part of the ecological corporate strategy of REA Card, which pursues a goal of the harmonic co-existence of companies, humans and the environment.

Umweltallianz is an alliance for sustainable locational policy, which was formed in cooperation between the Hessian business community and the Hessian State Government. The goal of the Umweltallianz is to promote voluntary contributions to environmental protection as well as the assumption of ecological responsibility by companies in the region.
